A storied mid-century timepiece nestled in the hills overlooking the San Fernando Valley needed a total rethink; From interior and exterior detailing of the structure, to all surrounding landscape. The property sits amidst the beautiful abundance of granite slope, plumbago, live oak, elm and olive. Our aim, to bind together the natural and structural elements to emphasize this perfect hid-away.  Removing layers of paint, demolishing dated additions and stripping everything to the bone, we returned the structure to its honest material beauty, bookended by lush native plantings, creating social spaces and places to read, relax or rock in. We worked hard to unify plantings on the vertiginous slopes,  constructed a modest platform terrace and dropped in a spa with awesome views and a boardwalk leading to a wee orchard of citrus.
